New Podcast - The Barnyards of Delgaty
I know, I know. You're saying to yourself, "Hey! That's not an Irish song." Well, you are correct. "The Barnyards of Delgaty" is, in fact, a Scottish bothy ballad. The bothy is the shed where plowman slept. These plowmen would go to special fairs to find work. They didn't always have the best working conditions. This song tells of the struggles and dreams of a Scottish farm worker in Delgaty located in Aberdeenshire. I learned the song from Ed Miller and parodied it on Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers. That song told the store of how I got my first cat ,Jasper.
